DGA Security Systems, Inc., is a security and fire systems specialist that New York City’s best-known businesses have entrusted with their protection since 1969. DGA is family-owned and the region’s largest independent provider of security and fire solutions, with many customers in the Tri-State area and a growing list of national accounts.


To make their services and protection systems information more accessible to users as well as to stay competitive in the industry, DGA asked Envative to build a mobile app for their customers, something Envative had already done for DGA’s Affiliated Monitoring Dealer base. The native iOS and Android mobile applications needed to "talk to" DGA's internal backend monitoring and secure support systems to provide real-time and accurate information to their mobile user base. Envative worked closely with DGA's internal technical team on API integration. Lengthy and detailed testing was required to ensure DGA-developed API's were accurate and implemented appropriately.


Because Envative had already built the mobile app for DGA’s affiliates, creating the mobile app for DGA Security’s customer base got on the fast track. As in our first project together, DGA provided their objectives, many of the specs and wireframes for the new app. While this isn’t the norm, our development team was happy to have these parameters to work with. From there, Envative worked in partnership with DGA to clarify information and make some additional design changes to improve the app’s user interface and user experience (UI/UX). When hiccups arose with DGA’s supporting web services, we pitched in to help with guidance and recommendations to improve the handling within their internal back-end systems.


The new DGA Security app puts control of a business’s protection systems, whether it’s security or fire protection or both, right in each business owner’s hands. The app allows DGA’s customers to manage authorized alarm contacts, schedule or change their alarm settings, put their systems in on/off test mode, and view their signal history remotely and securely from their smart phones. Feedback on the app has been extremely positive, and DGA already plans to work with our team again to add features that will increase the app’s usability and convenience for their user base.
